Donti FC suffered its first defeat of the season, falling 2-1 to table-topping Lakers FC in a fiercely contested match that was decided by fine margins and controversy.
The league leaders struck first early in the opening half when an unfortunate own goal gave Lakers the advantage. Donti responded well and were rewarded in the 35th minute when Sabeeh found the net to level the score at 1-1, sending the teams into halftime evenly matched.
Just five minutes after the restart, Lakers regained the lead from the penalty spot following a decision that sparked debate among players and supporters alike. Moments later, the match took another dramatic turn when Sabeeh was shown a highly disputed red card, forcing Donti to play the remainder of the game with ten men.

Donti FC kicked off its new season in winning fashion on Sunday, May 24, defeating The Tigers 2-1 in a tense and fog-filled opener.
Playing in their debut Puma yellow-and-black second jersey, Donti FC wasted no time setting the tone. Mestres opened the scoring in the 6th minute, converting a penalty kick to give Donti the early advantage.
The match remained tight throughout, with both sides battling for control in difficult weather conditions. Donti’s defensive line stood firm for most of the night, doing an excellent job containing repeated attacks from The Tigers and protecting the lead with disciplined defending.
Early in the second half, Sabeeh doubled Donti’s advantage with another successful penalty kick in the 50th minute, putting the home side in a strong position. The Tigers responded with a goal in the 63rd minute to make for a nervy final stretch, but Donti FC held their ground and secured an important first victory of the season.
The result gives Donti FC a confident start to the campaign, built on resilience, organization, and a defense that proved difficult to break down.

Donti FC will see their 2026 summer season debut this weekend on Sunday May 24. They will be joining Burlington BSL First Division League as last year champions. Their first game will be against The Tigers at 9:30am, at City Park F1 East, in Burlington. Check the full schedule here

Bustamante scored the winning goal during the last 5 minutes of the game, with a final 3-2 result. The other 2 remarkable goals were scored by Seba.

Donti FC are the 2025 BSL Division 1 Champions, beating the Lakers by 2 to 1 in an exciting and intense game this past Sunday.
First goal came at the 17th minute with Mestres' precisely executed free kick from 25 yards, going over the wall into the top left corner of the woodwork. The winning goal by Hamzah Sabeeh, assisted by David Chung, came during injury time at the 92nd minute.
This is Donti’s debut in this league after very successful campaigns in Oakville during the past few years.
